Review of Sean Fagan’s Heavy Bag Blueprint

In this post I will give an honest review of the Heavy Bag Blueprint 2.0 program by Sean Fagan.

And this Review is just one of over 100 5-Star reviews of the Heavy Bag Blueprint Program.

My Own Review

I first purchased the HBB program back in 2015.

When Sean Fagan introduced the Heavy Bag Blueprint 2.0 in 2017 I purchased the program with no hesitation.

I have tried out quite a few different options when it comes to learning and training muay thai and MMA striking at home.

Overall the HBB 2.0 program by Sean is something I have used since 2015 and continue to use weekly in my muay thai training.

Since 2013 I have been learning and training muay thai and MMA/BJJ through online training as well as travel overseas to train when I can.

I have had the opportunity to train at gyms such as Evolve MMA in Singapore, BJ Penn UFC Gym in Hawaii, muay thai gyms in Chiang Mai and Pattaya, as well as Gracie Jiu Jitsu in Australia and the US.

All this background is to let you know why I think the Heavy Bag Blueprint program is a great investment for me and many people who would like to learn and train muay thai from home with just a heavy bag.

Who is the Heavy Bag Blueprint 2.0 Program for?

This program was really beneficial for me as someone who trains mostly from home.

But it can be a valuable asset to a lot of people in different categories. These different categories include:

i) Those who mostly train at home due to lack of access to live training

This means the great majority of your muay thai training is solo.

Shadow boxing, strength and conditioning, shadow drills and skipping rope are all great solo training tools.

The heavy bag however, will be your most important tool if training mostly solo.

People like me who train at home a lot do so because there are no gyms or trainers in our areas or even in the same country.

ii) Those who want to supplement live training with home training

If you do get in live regular training with in person trainers then this is the best way to go.

You may want to put in some extra heavy bag sessions outside the gym when you have time.

In this case the Heavy Bag Blueprint again is a wise investment to make as you will get instructional heavy bag videos as well as full workouts to follow along with.

iii) Muay thai BEGINNERS and want to train solo BEFORE joining a gym

If you are just starting out and want to learn a bit on your own before joining live training, then again the Heavy Bag Blueprint will definitely help with that.

Sean Fagan as a pro fighter is also a great instructor.

Fagan’s technique breakdowns and overall instruction is very easy to learn from and can benefit the beginner a lot.

So if you are a beginner, then not to worry the instructional part of this program is a great place to learn the basics.

Also by following along with the full program your technique will improve over the course of implementation of the HBB.

teach yourself muay thai at home

Also as a beginner you wont really know how to structure your heavy bag training in order to progress the fastest.

Sean Fagan’s Heavy Bag Blueprint again will help you a lot.

Also it is a one time investment and not a recurring cost.

You can repeat the 24 week program.

Or you can take out parts and use the knowledge you learnt from implementing the Heavy Bag Blueprint to structure your own workouts and programs.

Either way this program is a great investment for well into your muay thai training journey.

iv) Grapplers or other Martial Artists who want to learn and train some muay thai and striking on their own

I actually started out with learning Gracie Jiu Jitsu from home (and I still do) through Rorion Gracie’s instructional from the Gracie Academy.

This was back in 2009.

For the last 10 years I have been a student at the Online Gracie Academy and get most of my instruction from there.

But this is just to let you know that learning muay thai online can be fun and also very effective to learn from at home in your own time.

This is great for martial artist’s who spent of their time at their academies training Judo or BJJ and want to learn some muay thai at home.

Again the Heavy Bag Blueprint will be very beneficial as a learning tool and workout from home.

v) Those who want to improve their technique and skill with focused bag work

For those who find it difficult to stay motivated with heavy bag training.

Or who find it challenging to develop and structure their heavy bag work when left alone to work the bag. At home or in the academy.

The Heavy Bag Blueprint provides structured done for you workouts that you can follow along with.

These workouts will help you focus on technique and applicable combos to grow your muay thai.

vi) People Who Want to Try a New From of Workout

The Heavy Bag Blueprint and muay thai in general is a great form of exercise.

It is really beneficial for developing your physique and strength and conditioning.

is mma a good workout

The Heavy Bag Blueprint also provides a challenge to your fitness while also helping to develop skill.

At the end of the 24 Week program, if you have followed the workouts as designed, you will be in better shape – guaranteed.

How is the Heavy Bag Blueprint Structured?

The program can be followed as a full 24 Week progressive program.

The program itself consists of downloadable videos under these categories:

  1. Basic Combos
  2. Intermediate Combos
  3. Advanced Combos
  4. Drills
  5. Workouts

The program also comes with a 32 page Master Manual eBook.

In addition for complete beginners or those starting training again there is a 30 minute muay thai bag work crash course video that will get moving with confidence and a solid foundation.

You get excellent instruction from Sean on each technique, combo and drill.

Sean puts together this program in a way that builds you up progressively from fundamentals to advanced techniques, drills and workouts.

My Favourite Part of the Program

I really enjoyed the workouts that Sean put together.

He structures his workout Rounds in a way that I never would have really done without this program.

There are 5 workouts that make up this program.

Each workout consists of 3 rounds (you can always do more :))

Each Round is 3 minutes with a 30 to 60 sec rest in between.

Each of the Rounds are put together as follows:

  • Round Length – 3 minutes
  • 5 sets of 30sec technique intervals.

Benefits of the Heavy Bag Blueprint program

There are several benefits of the Heavy Bag Blueprint program that I personally found.

Some of these benefits relate to your own training and whether you train exclusively at home or attend live training.

In my position of training mostly from home there are 4 main benefits of using the Heavy Bag Blueprint program, I found that also apply to just about everyone.

Benefit 1 – Complete ‘Done for You’ program ready to implement

With this program you will not have think up different workouts on the bag.

You can focus on technique and challenge your fitness through implementing this done for you program.

Benefit 2 – Designed by a Professional Muay Thai fighter

The Heavy Bag Blueprint program is designed by Sean Fagan who is a professional muay thai fighter living and fighting in Thailand.

Before moving to Thailand, Fagan was an American muay thai champion.

The technique he shows are those he has first hand fight experience with.

Also the conditioning aspect of this training is taken from his own conditioning that he uses to prepare for fights.

For beginners having a program available to you designed by an experienced fighter is valuable and will save you a lot of time when it comes to bag work.

Benefit 3 – Progressive Program Design

The heavy bag blueprint program is structured in a progressively more challenging format.

Both for your skill and conditioning, the program is designed to improve your skill through focussed training and improve your conditioning over time.

This builds you up over the course of the program which lasts for 24 weeks.

Benefit 4 – Single Payment – Lifetime Access

Once you purchase the Heavy Bag Blueprint program it is yours for life and you can access it whenever you need it.

There is one single fee and no recurring costs.

I having been using Sean Fagan’s original Heavy Bag Blueprint since 2015 and HBB 2.0 since 2017 and must say this was the best investment I ever made in my own home based muay thai solo training.

And as a one time investment that you can keep for life – its like having a personal muay thai trainer that you can access anywhere, anytime.

It is like a muay thai gift that keeps on giving (and it has done so for me for close to 10 years now).

What’s in the Improved Heavy Bag Blueprint 2.0?

All of the benefits discussed and people who the Heavy Bag Blueprint would benefit still apply for the HBB 2.0

There are several major upgrades to the HBB 2.0 from when it first came out 5 years earlier.

More Workouts

HBB 2.0 has 30 workouts each focused on different skills including the clinch, boxing, defense and conditioning focus among other areas.

You also get 30 drills such as ‘Body-Head-Body’ and ‘Low-Middle-High Kicks’ and ‘Balancing Teep’ drills each designed to laser in on particular areas of your striking.

More Combos

With 100 combos with video instruction included you will have a massive amount of instructional material to use for your own training.

This will also allow you to develop your own workouts and drills.

More Attention to Basics for Beginners

The HBB 2.0 includes a “crash course” for beginners.

This consists of a 30 minute video that introduced you to the basics beginning from the muay thai stance.

Useful Bonus Material

With the Heavy Bag Blueprint 2.0 you will also get very useful bonuses that include:

  • Competitor Mindset Training – for those who fight and compete.
  • Ab Shredder Workout videos to challenge and strengthen your core.
  • Fuel the Fighter eBook for a go to nutrition guide for fighters.

Final Thoughts

After purchasing the first HBB program in 2015 and the upgraded BB 2.0 in 2017 I can honestly say I have not been disappointed.

The material is ever green and you have full time access to the videos and eBooks to use whenever you want.

Also as a pro fighter Sean Fagan has put together a comprehensive training program with bonuses and a nutrition guide to follow.

To sum up I truly believe this program is a value for money resource for anyone training muay thai, kickboxing or MMA striking.
